"Storms make trees take deeper roots"

Madam Leong first operated her stall with her late husband, Mr Tang in 1962. This was an establishment located at the original National Library Canteen in Stamford Road.

What started as a way to survive the early years of Singapore's development has now become a passion and brand recognised by foodies worldwide.

Nam Seng has seen the changing landscapes of Singapore; the pre-independence days, economic rollercoasters, historic highs and lows.

Regardless, Madam Leong is up religiously up before the crack of dawn for 6 days a week to prepare for the day’s trade.

Her work ethic and her tenacity in braving the windfalls have made her even more of an icon.

People have said that eating her food takes them back to their childhood. Some of her younger patrons love the simple cantonese fare and they celebrate her rigid work ethic.

We would love for you to see why Nam Seng has been a stronghold for over 60 years.
